Drawing on a Document Page

Switch between typing and drawing on the same document page.

TL;DR

Document pages can be both typed on and drawn on, with a pill at the top of the page (or Cmd/Ctrl+D) switching between Text mode and Draw mode. Your text and drawings share the same page, so you can mark it up and switch back to typing.

Document pages (inside a notebook) can be both typed on and drawn on. A small pill at the top of the page switches between the two modes — you can also press Cmd+D (or Ctrl+D) to toggle.

  • Text mode — type rich text: headings, colours, lists, images, and tables.
  • Draw mode — draw, write, underline, circle, and highlight directly over your document, with the Pen, shapes, and controls for colour, size, stroke, and opacity.

Switch to Draw mode to mark up the page, then back to Text mode to keep typing. Your text and your drawings sit together on the same page.

While in Draw mode, use the Hand tool to move around the page so you do not accidentally draw while navigating.
